Alte Nationalgalerie
Bereichsnavigation 2. Ebene
The imposing building of the Alte Nationalgalerie can be seen from quite a distance. It and the Neues Museum are enclosed by the colonnades. The historic entrance under the outdoors flight of steps will continue to serve as the sole entrance to this temple of art from the 19th century, inasmuch as the Archaeological Promenade does not connect it with the other museums.
However, the master plan included the re-erection of all the old colonnades. The Kolonnadenhof (Colonnades Courtyard) - Stülers original arcadia - was reopened mid-2010. A direct connection will also be provided from here to the Ehrenhof of the Pergamon Museum, thereby enhancing the visitor's experience of the complex's island character.
