Bode-Museum, previously Kaiser Friedrich-Museum
Bereichsnavigation 2. Ebene
The historic entrance to the Bode-Museum lies at the northern tip of the Museumsinsel between the Spree and the Kupfergraben - a decision of significance for urban development. For this reason, the city of Berlin had the two Monbijou bridges built, which led to the forecourt of the museum where the equestrian monument to Kaiser Friedrich III stood. Today, one still enters the building through the northern arcade to pass through a double vestibule into the hall under the Große Kuppel (great cupola). One proceedes from here through the Kameckehalle (Kamecke Hall) into the so called Basilika. The continuation of this “golden axis” of the museum contains the Kleine Kuppel (small cupola), from which one will be able to access the Archaeological Promenade.
